Born on 1957 in Dozón, Galicia, Spain. He did chemistry studies (degree and doctorate) at the University of Santiago de Compostela, USC, Spain. After several postdoctoral stages, first at UMIST, Manchester, UK, (J.L. Dawson) and then at LISE, CNRS, Paris, France ( Profs. M. Keddam and H. Takenouti) he finally got a lecturer position at the University of Vigo, Spain, in 1987.
Since 1997 he holds a tenured Professor position (Chemical Engineering) at the School of Industrial Engineering of the Vigo University , Spain, where he teaches corrosion and electrochemistry-related subjects.
His research is mainly oriented to the application of electrochemical techniques to various corrosion problems (in concrete, coatings, cathodic protection, …) and development of electrodes for Li-ion batteries.
He was head of the Chemical Engineering Department (2009-2015) and currently coordinates the ENCOMAT research group and the doctoral program in Chemical Engineering .
