Position: tenured associated professor

Graduated in Chemical Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1985, she carried out Postgraduate studies at the EOI (1988). Doctor in Chemistry from the University of Vigo (1994), she completed her training at the University of Barcelona with a diploma in Characterization of Metallic Materials (1997).

In 1998 she got the tenured associate professor position in the Department of Materials Engineering, Applied Mechanics of the University of Vigo, developing her teaching activity in different undergraduate, master and doctorate degrees.

Her research activity has been carried out in the ENCOMAT group since its constitution, in close collaboration with the AIMEN technology centre and CENIM. Starting with the study of passivity in metallic alloys, she has developed various projects related to the use of surface modification techniques (ion implantation, Laser, FSP) to improve the mechanical, tribological and corrosion resistance characteristics of metallic materials. At present, her work focuses on nanoparticle-reinforced metal matrix composites, manufactured by powder metallurgy and welded using FSW.

She has been manager of the "Galician Plan for Research, Development and Technological Innovation" (INCITE) of the Xunta de Galicia (2006 - 2011) in the areas of Materials and Construction Technologies throughout the years 2000-2006. Between the years 2014-2018, she has held the position of General Secretary of the University of Vigo.
